PRIVACYPOLICY

Task Commander helps you organize tasks, capture notes, and save voice recordings.
Android 1.0.1, Build 92 keeps your workspace on the device while Google Play handles purchases. This policy explains recovery, sharing, permissions, and access records.

01 // YOUR WORKSPACE

Information saved by Task Commander

This policy covers Task Commander Android 1.0.1, Build 92, published by Alpha Command. The app saves the information you create and the details needed to organize your workspace:

  • Tasks and lists: task and subtask text, custom categories, icons and colors, ordering, Today selections, completion status, and creation, editing, completion, archive, and deletion times.
  • Notes: titles, formatted text, links, checklists, categories, favorites, task associations, and drafts. Attachments retained in an imported or older workspace can remain stored with the notes.
  • Recordings: audio, titles, categories, favorites, linked tasks, duration, recording format and capture settings, file size, time markers, and waveform information. An interruption can leave recoverable audio fragments.
  • Progress and preferences: completion and reopening history, weekly summaries, category selections, ordering, timer settings, sound and haptic preferences, reminder settings, and backup information. This version tracks completed tasks and weekly progress; it does not have an XP or points system.
  • Recovery information: removed or archived items, unfinished drafts, and local copies of the workspace used for recovery, imports, and restoration.

Local item identifiers connect these records. The Android timer also saves its running or paused state and timing information so it can resume its display after the app closes or reloads and provide a background completion alert. Notification and alarm controls are described below.

Trial timing and purchase access are stored separately from the workspace. See Trial, purchases, and offline access for what the app and Google Play process.

02 // ON YOUR DEVICE / YOUR CHOICES

Storage, recovery, and portable backups

Your workspace remains in private on-device app storage unless you deliberately share or export it. Task Commander uses a local WebView database and settings storage for tasks, notes, audio, attachments, preferences, and recovery information. Its interface, fonts, and sounds are bundled. There is no Alpha Command account-based workspace backup, automatic upload, or cloud synchronization service. Google Play’s separate purchase processing does not upload this workspace.

Recovery checkpoints: the app automatically rotates local recovery copies, including recent, daily, and weekly checkpoints. It also keeps protected snapshots before an import or restoration and retains certain migration or pre-import recovery information. These are recovery aids on the same device, not cloud backups. Deleted content may still exist in recovery copies until those copies rotate out or local app storage is removed; rotation depends on subsequent activity, not a guaranteed deletion date.

Portable backups: Settings → Save backup creates a ZIP containing workspace information, recordings, and stored attachment files. It may contain removed or archived items, older retained files, and other recoverable information, not just your active lists. Recovery checkpoints can also be exported. Trial and purchase entitlement data are excluded from these workspace backups.

Android’s system file picker lets you choose where to save a backup or which file to restore. Choosing a cloud destination, such as Google Drive, gives that provider the selected file. Its terms and privacy policy apply. Task Commander does not independently sign in to that provider. Exported files have no additional Task Commander password protection or encryption layer.

Restoring replaces the active workspace and preserves recovery information from before the import. Older stored audio and attachments can remain. A workspace restore does not restore or reset the separate trial and purchase record. Use Google Play restoration for purchased access.

Android automatic backup: this build disables Android automatic cloud backup and excludes its private app storage from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. These settings are not a promise about every manufacturer or external backup tool. Changing phones or reinstalling does not guarantee automatic restoration of your workspace; keep a complete portable backup if you need one.

03 // RECORDING IS YOUR CHOICE

Microphone, WAV recordings, and sharing

Task Commander requests microphone permission when you start a recording. You can decline and continue using tasks, notes, and the timer. Opening the app does not start recording. The microphone captures audio when you choose Record and grant permission.

Audio is captured through the local WebView audio APIs and saved as WAV audio in private app storage. Waveform calculations run on the device. Task Commander does not use speech recognition or an AI transcription service, does not transcribe recordings, and does not upload audio to Alpha Command for processing.

You can pause, resume, and stop a recording. Moving the Android app into the background pauses recording; it does not run a background recording service. While paused, the microphone stream can remain open until you stop recording or close the app. Stopping releases it and prepares the audio for saving.

The app writes audio fragments while recording to help recover from interruptions. An unfinished recording or note draft may remain available through Settings → Recover items. Discarding an unfinished recording removes its draft fragments; deleting a saved recording is recoverable, as explained below.

You can save or share a note as text and a recording as a WAV file. Native Android sharing gives the destination you select the content you choose to share. Audio can also leave private storage in a portable backup or exported recovery copy. The destination’s privacy practices apply, and changing or deleting the original in Task Commander does not erase an exported or shared copy. The app does not automatically share recordings or notes.

04 // ANDROID CONTROLS

Permissions, notifications, and alarms

The Android app and its included libraries declare the following permissions for these purposes:

  • Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): records voice notes when you start recording and grant permission.
  • Audio settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS): supports recording, audio routing, and playback. It does not give access to personal files or other apps’ recordings.
  • Vibration (VIBRATE): provides optional haptic feedback and timer cues. App and Android settings control sound and vibration.
  • Internet and network state (INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): support communication and connection handling for Google Play Billing and its included service components. The workspace interface loads bundled resources; these permissions do not create a workspace-upload service.
  • Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING): added by the Billing library to purchase, acknowledge, query, and restore the full-access product through Google Play.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): permits local timer-completion alerts and optional weekly reminders on Android versions that require permission. Android notification settings control their display, sound, and vibration.
  • Exact alarms (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): special Android access helps deliver timer-completion alerts at the intended time. If it is unavailable, the app can use an inexact alarm and delivery may be delayed. Weekly reminders do not require exact-alarm access.
  • Restart notifications (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): lets the app restore relevant local schedules after a device restart. It also handles relevant clock, time-zone, app-update, and alarm-permission changes.

Timer alerts and weekly reminders are scheduled on the device. They are not a remote push-notification service, and their scheduling does not send your tasks or notes to a server. Android power settings and permissions can affect delivery. A running timer is not reset merely by closing or reloading the app; a timer paused for an hour is reset by the app.

AndroidX also declares an app-specific, signature-protected permission for internal broadcasts. This restricts who can send those messages; it does not grant access to your personal information. This build does not request camera, location, contacts, or broad shared-storage permission. File selection and sharing grant access only to the chosen file or destination.

Manage microphone and notification permission in Android Settings → Apps → Task Commander. Exact-alarm access is usually under Special app access → Alarms & reminders. Names vary by device. You can also change reminder, sound, and haptic preferences in the app. Revoking microphone permission prevents new recordings but does not delete saved audio.

05 // GOOGLE PLAY / LOCAL ACCESS RECORD

Trial, purchases, and offline access

Task Commander offers a 14-day trial, followed by an optional one-time purchase for permanent full access. There is no subscription, automatic renewal, or automatic charge when the trial ends. Google Play displays the local price and applicable taxes at checkout. No Alpha Command account or sign-in is required.

Google Play Billing handles checkout and payment processing using your Google Play account. Alpha Command does not receive your full payment-card details. The app does process purchase information: it checks ownership, acknowledges completed purchases to Google Play, restores access, and keeps the correct access state.

In this release, verification and access storage are on the device; there is no developer-operated purchase-verification server or cloud entitlement database. The app checks Google Play’s signed purchase record. The signature is an authenticity check, and the transaction identifier or purchase token identifies the purchase—it is not a payment-card number. The record can include the product, purchase time, purchase state, and acknowledgment status.

The app privately stores trial activation and timing information, clock and elapsed-time checkpoints, access or migration flags, and a cached signed purchase record. These records support the trial and offline access and are separate from tasks, notes, and recordings. They are not included in portable workspace backups or recovery checkpoints.

An Internet connection and the appropriate Google Play account are needed to purchase, restore, and refresh ownership. The app checks with Google Play when a billing connection is available, including on returning to the app or requesting restoration. Once verified, cached ownership supports offline access. This does not make Google Play unnecessary: a permanently offline app cannot reliably learn about later refunds or revoked purchases. A successful later ownership check can change the cached access state.

Trial expiration does not delete the workspace. Existing information remains available for review and export; continued creation and editing require full access after the trial. Google retains and handles its transaction and account records under its own terms and the Google Privacy Policy.

06 // PROVIDERS AND COMMUNICATIONS

Accounts, SDKs, and other services

This Android release has no Alpha Command account system, advertising SDK, separate app-analytics SDK, third-party crash-reporting SDK, or developer-operated cloud database. Alpha Command does not sell your workspace or use its contents for targeted advertising.

Google Play Billing is an integrated third-party service. In addition to transaction handling, Google’s Billing library and supporting Google Play services and data-transport components can process technical information about billing operations, the app, and the device for service delivery, diagnostics, and security. These provider processes are distinct from a Task Commander behavioral-analytics system. We do not claim that nothing leaves the device.

Task Commander also uses Google’s AndroidX Activity, Core, and WebKit libraries and your Android WebView implementation for its local interface and Android integration. They are not configured as a workspace-sync service. Android, WebView, Google Play, and the device manufacturer may separately process platform diagnostics, updates, store activity, and related information under their own settings and policies.

If you open a link in a note, the destination and browser receive the requested URL and ordinary connection information. A selected file or sharing provider receives the content you choose to send. See the Google Privacy Policy for Google services and the privacy policy of any other provider you select.

If you email Alpha Command, we receive your email address, message, and attachments through the email services involved. We use them to answer your question or handle your request. You do not need to send recordings, a complete workspace, a purchase token, or payment-card details to ask a privacy question.

07 // RECOVERY AND REMOVAL

Manage and delete your data

You can edit tasks, categories, notes, and recording details inside the app. Deleting a task, note, or saved recording normally moves it into recoverable storage; it is not a permanent purge. Settings → Recover items lets you restore removed or archived items and unfinished drafts. Removing a task does not erase independently saved notes or recordings linked to it.

Automatic checkpoints and protected import snapshots can contain older or deleted information. They rotate as newer copies are created, and some other recovery records remain longer. Importing or restoring a workspace is not a complete erasure of the old workspace. This version does not provide a permanent per-item purge of every retained copy.

To remove the complete local workspace—including recordings, recovery copies, and drafts—use Android Settings → Apps → Task Commander → Storage (or Storage & cache) → Clear storage / Clear data. Clearing cache alone is not sufficient. Clearing storage or uninstalling normally removes private app data, including locally cached trial, timer, and purchase information. It does not cancel a purchase or erase Google Play’s transaction history. Restoring purchased access requires Google Play; these actions are not a promise of another trial.

Delete exported ZIP backups, notes, WAV files, and copies held by sharing or storage providers separately. Restoring an old backup can bring previously removed content back. The app cannot erase copies already received by another person or service.

Alpha Command cannot remotely view or erase your local workspace. Email seth@alphacmd.io for help or to request deletion of information we hold, such as support correspondence. This is an email request process, not an automatic deletion feature. We may ask for limited information needed to locate and verify the request. Use Google’s or another provider’s controls for information held independently by that provider.

08 // RETENTION AND PROTECTION

Data retention and security

Active, archived, and recoverable workspace information can remain until you remove the relevant local storage. Completed tasks are periodically archived rather than erased. The app keeps up to 12 weekly summaries; event history and other recovery information can remain longer. Local recovery copies rotate by the number of newer copies, not a guaranteed number of days. Trial expiration does not erase workspace history.

Local trial and purchase-access records remain as needed to determine access, until replaced or removed with app storage. A successful Google Play ownership refresh can update or remove the cached purchase record. Google controls retention of its purchase and service records; uninstalling does not delete them.

Exports and shared copies remain wherever you sent or saved them. Preparing a share also creates a temporary local file; the app attempts to clean older sharing files during later sharing activity, so immediate removal is not guaranteed. Interruptions can leave cached export files. Clearing private app storage removes those local copies, not files saved elsewhere.

We retain support or privacy correspondence for as long as needed to handle the request and follow-up, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. We review email deletion requests and may retain limited information for those purposes.

The app uses Android’s private storage protections, restricts its workspace WebView to bundled content, and disables WebView cookies and cleartext network traffic. Purchase signatures help check authenticity; they do not encrypt your workspace. Task Commander adds no separate password or encryption layer to workspace backups or exported files. Google controls the security of its billing services. Use a screen lock, keep Android and WebView updated, and protect exported copies. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

09 // CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

Children’s privacy

Task Commander does not request a date of birth, verify age, or create children’s accounts. If a child uses the app, the local storage, microphone, recovery, purchase, and sharing practices described here still apply. A parent or guardian can manage microphone and notification permissions, Google Play purchase controls, local storage, and exported copies.

Alpha Command does not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13 through privacy or support correspondence. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email seth@alphacmd.io so we can review and remove information in our possession as appropriate. Contact a separate provider about information it holds.

10 // THIS PUBLIC PAGE

Visiting this website

This policy page is public and requires no account or login. The Alpha Command website uses Netlify hosting and page-performance monitoring and loads fonts from Google Fonts. Those providers receive ordinary web-request information, including an IP address and browser details; Netlify’s monitoring also receives page-loading measurements.

These website services are separate from the Android app. Visiting this page does not give them access to your locally saved tasks, notes, or recordings. Read Netlify’s Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy for their practices.

11 // POLICY UPDATES

Changes to this policy

This policy is effective October 21, 2026 and describes Task Commander Android 1.0.1, Build 92. The Google Play purchase provisions describe this Android release; they do not imply that an iOS edition uses Google Play Billing.

We will publish revisions at this same address and change the effective date when our practices change. Before introducing materially different handling, such as an account-based cloud service or transcription, we will update the relevant policy and app-store disclosures and provide additional notice or request permission where required.
